ITM’s INCUBATOR PLAYS A CRUCIAL ROLE IN ENABLING STUDENTS LIVE THE ENTREPRENEURIAL DREAM

Staying true to the E Week theme of 2018, ITM, Mumbai has allowed many students live their entrepreneurial dream to the fullest. The event is scheduled for a week and showcases events such as workshops, panel discussions, games and various other activities such as the human chain, treasure hunts and flash mobs, to name a few. The focus point of all these events being, sensitising and spreading awareness about entrepreneurship in today’s growing landscape. This power packed week allowed for students and entrepreneurs to understand the role entrepreneurship plays in converting dreams into reality. With the help of active E-Leaders and faculty, the E-Cell and Incubator Cell at the campus has seen a marked difference regarding the students and entrepreneurs that enter it.

The eye-catching human chain was held on 11th February 2018 and focused on the theme of “Fuel conversion”. It saw dignitaries like Mr Mukul Joshi (DGM Retail Branding, BPCL), Mr Praful Shah and Mr Sagar Gundewar (Rotary Club, Kharghar Midtown) grace the occasion. This human chain was made possible by uniting 400+ students and faculty from the ITM Business School which was about 4.1 kilometres in length. The rope, made of recycled paper was symbolic of the fact that we are all connected by a thread.

Additionally, a panel discussion which focused on the challenges and learnings faced and conquered by entrepreneurs on the path to living the entrepreneurial dream was held at the institute. The panelists and moderators included dignitaries like V. Satya Murthy, M/S Global Logistics Services Inc, Sachin Shetty, Suncity Hotels, Fahim Vora, Be the Local, Prakash J, Knight Chef and Raghav Soni, Jump Start Innovation. The discussion allowed for a high learning curve for budding student entrepreneurs to learn from the shoulders of giants into what it takes to become a successful entrepreneur.

The ITM Incubator Cell has in its time also witnessed students like Vivek Viswanathan, Founder, VS Works and Souharda Nandi, Founder, Social Legends Web Solutions, who are currently running successful campus ventures and have gone ahead to achieve laurels for their institute. Shedding light on the role played by incubators, E-Cells, mentors and faculty as a whole in the wholesome development of an entrepreneur, Vivek states, “Everything that I have done in my startup is what I have learnt on campus through my incubator, mentors and faculty.” It is thus safe to say, ITM is creating a niche for themselves in the entrepreneurial industry.
