With the objective of recognizing and celebrating everyone who is contributing to the development of entrepreneurship, this year the awards cover a spectrum of achievers including, ecosystem contributors, mentors, institute stakeholders – Management, faculty, E-leaders and student startups. The awards are categorized as follows:

NEN Mentors of the Decade

NEN Mentors of the Decade

All start-ups acknowledge the critical role of a mentor in their entrepreneurial journey. Be it technical guidance, access to personal networks or even just moral support, mentors play a pivotal role and are instrumental for an entrepreneur’s success. Over the years many such mentors have joined the cause of Wadhwani Foundation, and contributed towards mentoring startups.
This award recognizes such extraordinary individuals whose mentoring has brought a significant impact in an entrepreneur’s venture life cycle.

Criteria:

  • Significant progress in mentee’s entrepreneurial journey (measured by jobs, revenue, profits, etc)
  • Number and profile of mentees mentored
  • Any major achievements/highlights as a mentor

NEN Educators of the Decade

NEN Educators of the Decade

Being a faculty is not easy, being an entrepreneurship faculty is even tougher. Despite the odds, few faculty stand out in their commitment towards the cause and are campus favorites. They are a gurus in a real sense for their students, inspiring, mentoring and guiding them in their tough journeys as entrepreneurs. By their sheer dedication, they either adopt innovative methods in teaching or go out and create collaborations that will be of value for their students; and in the process create maximum impact.

NEN Educators of the Decade deliver entrepreneurship programs of the highest standards in terms of content, delivery and pedagogy. More often than not, they go beyond their regular jobs to nurture budding entrepreneurs and contribute to the development of the entrepreneurship ecosystem both within and outside the campus. This award is a humble attempt to bring such faculty to the fore, recognize and showcase them as real role models of society.

Criteria:

  • Demonstrate strong role in impact created (entrepreneurs/ ventures)
  • Number and level of entrepreneurs mentored (ideation, early stage, high growth)
  • Trainings undergone and implemented back on/off campus (NEN and Non-NEN)
  • Number of students trained in entrepreneurship program
  • Leadership skills in developing entrepreneurship as a mainstream activity on campus
  • Should have developed and showcased best practices for others to follow
  • Significant role in outreach

Romesh Wadhwani Fellowship for NEN Startup of the Decade

As the startup revolution takes steam, more and more people are venturing out early on to have their piece of the pie. Some of these entrepreneurs derive learnings out of failures, some move on to be role models for their peer group. This award recognizes entrepreneurs who have taken the risks to fuel their dreams and have been successful in building ventures that are creating an impact.

Criteria:

  • Should be an NEN created or supported startups
  • Display innovation at idea stage/implementation of business model
  • Sustainable venture with strong promise of opportunity to scale up
  • Funds raised
  • Number of jobs created
  • Profile and abilities of leadership team
  • Revenue generated

(B) NEN E Week Awards

NEN E-Cells of the Year Award

NEN E-Cells of the Year Award

E-Cells are at the epicentre of campus entrepreneurship. Vibrant E-Cells not only add to the high energy levels on campus but also contribute to creating maximum impact. This award is given to E-Cells that exemplify clear vision and demonstrate best practices in implementation of entrepreneurship programmes, help create and support student ventures, raise funds and have a strong presence and outreach in the community E-Cells that go beyond being event-centric to those that cater to the development of entrepreneurship both within and outside the campus.

Criteria:

  • Should have a well-established organization structure with planned calendar of events
  • Well-defined succession plan of E-Cell leadership team
  • Systematic implementation of activities and events
  • Demonstrate evidence that E-Cell is an independent organization lead by E-Leaders (Institute and Faculty to only play an advisory role)
  • Range of events to cover all stakeholders (students, aspiring entrepreneurs, alumni and startups)
  • Impactful signature events
  • Impact created (entrepreneurs/ventures)
  • Developed best practices for other E-Cells to follow
  • Outreach – role in the community
  • Number entrepreneurs/ mentors engaged
  • Number of E-Cell members
  • Number of students trained in entrepreneurship

NEN E-Leader of the Year Award

NEN E-Leader of the Year Award

E-Leaders as the term suggests are students who are most motivated and interested in entrepreneurship and have taken charge of managing the E-Cell. These student leaders guide their teams to work towards common goals of spreading awareness and guiding and supporting aspiring entrepreneurs. Some of these stand out by radically transforming E-Cells and making them vibrant organizations through their dynamism and leadership. This award identifies and rewards such leaders.

Criteria:

  • Displays a strong vision and plays a leadership role in taking E-Cell to the next level
  • Independently leads the E-Leader’s team, allocates resources and responsibilities in accordance to skill sets for execution of all program
  • Looked up to as a dynamic E-Leader by team members, faculty and stakeholder community
  • Strong networker who has built a presence for the E-Cell in the community

NEN Innovation Award

NEN Innovation Award

Innovation in product, design or service is a key success parameter for any start up. The Innovation Award celebrates this spirit of innovation in early stage ventures by students. Given to the most creative, innovative and resourcefully designed solution/prototype that offers transformational impact and is able to indicate growth beyond the conceptual stage.

Criteria:

  • Demonstrate creativity, innovativeness and originality
  • Should solve existing problems through an original concept
  • Effectiveness: what is the extent of impact it will create?
  • Practicality of innovation: does it have reasonable chance to get commercially implemented
  • Technical viability, feasibility, commercialization and sustainability strategy

NEN E Week Star Awards

NEN E Week Star Awards

Every year, 8 days of E-Week are a celebration of the undying spirit of entrepreneurship; the will to overcome challenges and rise above mundane problems by coming up with creative scalable solutions. E-Week Stars are institutes that go all out during this one week and invest their people, resources and time to run theme-based programs on and off campus.

Criteria:

  • Number of events planned and implemented
  • Quality of programs (connect to entrepreneurship and theme)
  • Innovativeness of activities
  • Buzz created on and off campus
  • Outreach - students on campus and off campus
  • Stakeholder engagement on and off campus
  • Marketing - social, media, Press, BTL, partnerships, funds raised, resources engaged
